Caroline Migo
My journey began in December 2008 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, a moment that changed my life forever. Facing the diagnosis head-on, I underwent a mastectomy and DIEP Reconstruction, followed by chemotherapy, radiotherapy and five years on Tamoxifen. Each stage brought its own challenges, unfortunately my initial reconstruction failed but I went on to have a successful LD reconstruction in 2010.
Inspired by my experiences and driven to give something back, I joined QVH as a Public Governor in 2021, motivated by a desire to help secure the hospital’s future for others in need. My professional background in marketing, built over two decades, equipped me with the skills to promote Restore, the charity I helped found. Over the past 13 years, I’ve worked alongside passionate volunteers to establish and run Restore, focusing on providing practical and emotional support for patients facing breast reconstruction. Together, we have raised vital funds to expand services, offered peer support to countless individuals, and helped foster hope at times when it’s most needed.
Being part of Restore has been more than just a role—it has given me a powerful sense of purpose and a deep connection to a community of people united by compassion and resilience. The opportunity to turn my own challenges into something positive for others has been truly humbling. Witnessing the difference we make in patients’ lives, seeing confidence restored and bonds formed, reminds me daily why this work matters. I feel incredibly proud and grateful to be part of an organisation that stands for hope, support, and the belief that together, we can overcome even the toughest obstacles.
