I undertook my adult nurse training DipHE at St Richards Hospital, Chichester with The University of Surrey in 2005. I qualified in 2008 and began working at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.
I initially worked on the specialist plastic reconstructive & maxillofacial wards, before moving onto the high-dependency ‘step down unit’ (now known as Enhanced Recovery Area). In this unit I cared for patients undergoing major reconstructive surgery, such as breast reconstruction. During this time I undertook a part-time BSc (Hons) degree in Acute Clinical Practice specialising in plastic surgery and breast cancer.
I began volunteering at the show & tell events in 2009. I started in my current position as Breast Reconstruction Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2012, I actually did my training with Pam and have worked alongside her throughout my career at QVH.
I help to run the show & tell information events every other month at QVH, I find being able to support women contemplating breast reconstruction rewarding and the camaraderie amongst the volunteers and models is humbling.
However you would like to get involved, we would love to hear from you.
