Tracy Twinn

My Journey started back in 2005 when I was 36. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast. I had a lumpectomy, radiotherapy and was put on tamoxifen. Unfortunately on 1st March 2012 I was diagnosed again and had a bilateral mastectomy in the April. In November 2012 I underwent a bilateral TUG flap reconstruction this was followed by several fat transferal surgeries (lypo sculpting) to give my new breasts volume and shape. My journey was then completed with a nipple reconstruction surgery and followed by a couple of sessions of tattooing to add the areola.

It was a long journey from my mastectomy to the completion of my new breasts but a journey that I was extremely glad that I took as it really did give me my life back. During my journey I also discovered that I carried the BRCA1 gene.

I have been part of Restore from the beginning and am very proud to be a Trustee of such an amazing charity that is there to help and guide ladies through this awful journey. I’ve met a lot of amazing people throughout my whole journey some of which, I’m proud to say, have become good friends.
