We run 'show and tell' sessions at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, St Thomas' Hospital in London, Future Dreams House in London, and the Hub on Rye Hill in East Sussex. We aim to offer at least one event each month, providing women across the South East with the opportunity to attend a session at a convenient location.

These events are designed for women who are considering breast reconstruction. Attendees can meet women who have already been through their reconstruction journey, hear about their experiences, and see the results of their surgery in a supportive and informal environment.

The sessions provide an opportunity to discuss all aspects of breast reconstruction with women who have first-hand experience of the process. Many attendees find it reassuring to talk openly with others who have faced similar decisions and challenges.

Breast Reconstruction Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) and/or Breast Clinical Nurse Specialists are available at most events. They can provide information about what to expect during your hospital stay, answer medical questions, and signpost attendees to additional support services, including psychological support and physiotherapy.

Our Show & Tell events are suitable for:

  • Women newly diagnosed with breast cancer who are considering immediate breast reconstruction.
  • Women who have previously undergone a mastectomy and are now considering delayed breast reconstruction.
  • Women with a known gene mutation or strong family history who may be considering risk-reducing mastectomy and reconstruction.
  • Women who have previously undergone one type of breast reconstruction and are considering converting to a different reconstructive option.

Partners, family members, and friends are welcome to attend. As space is limited, we kindly ask that attendees bring no more than one guest.

Please note that these events are not suitable for anyone aged 16 years or under, due to the nature of the discussions and images that may be shared.

We endeavour to provide a variety of volunteer models who can demonstrate different reconstruction techniques and outcomes. However, as our models generously volunteer their time, we cannot guarantee that someone will be available who has undergone the specific type of reconstruction you are considering. If this is the case, many of our volunteers are happy to provide support and share their experiences by telephone or email.

We hope you will find these sessions informative, supportive, and helpful as you consider your reconstructive options.
